Who’s the girl?

Ciao, and welcome to This Girl’s Gotta Eat! You gotta eat right? Might as well make it worth it!

I bet you’re wondering a little about the girl huh? I’m Victoria Orban, a marketing-communications professional by day, and an inspired home cook by night! I figure someone has to put the food on the table…so if I’m going to slave over a hot stove,  it’s gonna be worth it. 🙂

I am passionate about my Italian heritage, showcased openly by my love for food, wine and classic Italian mannerisms! Cooking is in my soul. I come from a long line of great cooks and bakers, who learned from their mother, who learned from their grandma, who learned from their great-grandma…well, you get the gist. And with deep cooking roots and a feisty creative side, it’s no surprise that I love to whip up fun creations in the kitchen!

On This Girl’s Gotta Eat you’ll find a plethora of delicious, homemade food ideas either from my own arsenal, or tweaks I’ve put on others’ dishes (I rarely feel confined by a recipe, and like to use what I have on hand). I love sharing a homemade meal with my loved ones…and now you, I hope! So feel free to drop in for a visit from time-to-time, pull an imaginary chair up to the table and enjoy!

And for some extra goodies, follow along with This Girl on facebook here.

Salute! 🙂

Sasquatches eat anything that dares stand in their way. Preferably it was alive at some point in time or better yet…maybe it’s still alive. Regardless, food on a plate does not stand a chance.

Growing up in an Italian family where the woman’s “place” was in the kitchen, I can vividly remember steaming pots, clanking silverware and the smell of delicious, genuine home-made food. And tons of activity as my grandma, mom and aunts whipped up feast after feast after feast for our family. I learned how to cook from these wonderful, giving women and then learned a completely different style of cooking from my mother-in-law. This labor of love is something I’ve carried on in my own immediate family. And it fills my heart to see Victoria keeping the tradition alive (from both sides of our family). And even better- she’s adding her own creations to the legacy!!

Coming from the “male” perspective of an Italian home- I love these woman’s cooking!!! The motto was I’ll take care of the outside of the home, you can take care of the inside. I am proud of your continuous of tradition! So glad you have the fortitude and technical savvy to share the “tradition” with a spice of you own. Go Girl! UT
