Aladdin’s Inspired Hummos

8 07 2011

Somehow, I can never get enough Aladdin’s (a Lebanese/American eatery primarily based in Ohio). I know my Lebanese friends might disagree that Aladdin’s rocks, but that’s probably because they are used to Lebanese food tasting the way their family has prepared it for centuries! As for me, I’ll take an order of Aladdin’s Hummos or Baba any day!

Tonight, I’m going to enjoy my Aladdin’s inspired Hummos, a crisp salad and a glass of red!

Aladdin’s Inspired Hummos

  • 1 large can or 2 small cans chick peas, drained and rinsed
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (amount varies based on your garlic preference – I love it so more goes in!)
  • Kosher salt
  • 2 rounded tablespoons tahini paste
  • Drizzle extra virgin olive oil
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish
  • Paprika for garnish
  • Pita to serve

Combine chick peas, juice of 1 lemon, garlic and tahini paste in a food processor. Sadly, I don’t have a food processor (but want one dearly!) so I used a blender. It’s not ideal for getting a creamier texture, but sometimes you have to make do with what you have!

Process hummos, drizzling in olive oil and salt to taste, until smooth. Garnish with chopped parsley, olive oil and paprika. Serve with pita wedges (which I drizzled with olive oil and Kosher salt and broiled for a few minutes until a bit crisp).
